Chromium & Fasting

Chromium is an essential mineral that plays a key role in glucose metabolism and insulin function. There is some evidence to suggest that chromium supplementation may have a positive impact on fasting by improving insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism. This, in turn, may lead to better glucose control and reduced food cravings.

A double-blind, randomized controlled trial conducted in 2014 found that chromium supplementation reduced hunger and food cravings in overweight individuals following a low-calorie diet. Similarly, a study from the same year found that chromium supplementation increased insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism in overweight individuals.

Another study, conducted in 2018, found that chromium supplementation reduced fasting glucose levels in individuals with type 2 diabetes. The study also found that chromium supplementation improved insulin sensitivity and reduced insulin resistance.

It’s important to note that the amount of chromium needed for optimal health varies from person to person, and many people get enough chromium from their diet. However, for those with specific health conditions, such as diabetes or obesity, chromium supplementation may be beneficial.

It’s always recommended to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement regimen, especially when fasting.
