L-citrulline is an amino acid that is involved in the production of nitric oxide (NO) in the body. When L-citrulline is converted to L-arginine, it increases the production of NO which leads to the dilation of blood vessels, increased blood flow and improved oxygen and nutrient delivery to the muscles.
Some studies have suggested that supplementing with L-citrulline during fasting may have potential benefits for exercise performance and muscle recovery. One study found that taking L-citrulline before exercise increased muscle blood flow and reduced muscle damage.
Other studies have found that L-citrulline may help to improve insulin sensitivity and reduce inflammation. It may also help to improve muscle function and muscle growth, as well as improve the cardiovascular system.
It’s important to note that more research is needed to fully understand the effects of L-citrulline supplementation during fasting. It’s always best to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement regimen.
